Fall Makeup Trends
This season’s makeup focuses on the chicness of minimalism – choosing one area of your face to accentuate and practicing restraint with the rest. It’s well suited to admirers of the French style of looking both polished, and yet a little unkempt. Some of Fall 2013’s most popular trends are glowing nude faces, lovely full brows, naked lashes and smudgy stained mouths. The runways were overrun with smoky watercolor eyes in peach, rust, maroon and mink grays, and lids dusted and dotted with sequins and glitter.
The sparkly eyes seen at the Chanel and Thakoon shows inspired the look created on our model. Paired with a fresh, bare face it’s both understated and arresting.
Eyes:
- Apply primer to the lids
- Apply electric blue cream shadow over entire lid, up to the crease
- Blend shadow outward into a slight wing shape
- Apply soft beige pink along the brow bone
- Pat electric blue powder over blended cream shadow to deepen color
- Blend powder along the crease and wing
- Using ring finger, pat a variegated metallic pigment over the blue shadow
- Near the inner corner of the eye, repeat the above process with a nude glitter pigment
- Near the lash line and outer corner of the lid, apply a tiny bead of glue
- 10. Using finger, press a small amount of multi-colored crafting glitter to the glue dot
Face:
- Using a makeup towelette, wipe away any pigment or glitter that may have fallen on the face
- Prime the skin
- Apply a matte foundation with a stippling brush
- To face and neck, apply concealer and green neutralizer to cover blemishes and redness around the nose
- To the under eye area, apply brightening primer and concealer
- Using a setting brush, lightly pat brightening powder
- Using a large powder brush, dust translucent powder all over the face, focusing on the t-zone
- Using a mixture of matte bronzer and peach toned blush, sweep upwards with a large, fluffy blush brush
- Fill brows with eyebrow powder and brush through with a grooming brush
Lips:
- Soften lips with balm
- Apply 2 shades of lipstick, a peachy pink and a nude beige, using a large synthetic flat paddle brush
